SSH Telnet
Would you like to find out what Telnet is and what it can be used for?
SSH, or Secure Shell, is a network protocol which is used to connect to a web server and perform various tasks through a command line. The protocol is popular with many knowledgeable users, because the information transmitted over it is encrypted, so it may not be intercepted on the way by a 3rd party. SSH access could be used for a variety of things depending on the type of Internet hosting account. With a shared hosting account, for instance, SSH is among the ways to import/export a database or to upload a file when the website hosting server permits it. In case you have a virtual or a dedicated server, SSH could be used for just about anything - you could install software or restart specific services such as the web server or the database server which run on the machine. SSH is used primarily with UNIX-like Platforms, but there are clients that allow you to employ the protocol if your computer system is working with a different Operating System as well. The connection is established on TCP port 22 by default and the remote hosting server always listens for incoming connections on that port although a lot of providers change it for security reasons.

SSH Telnet in Hosting
When you have a hosting account with our company and you'd like to manage your content remotely using SSH, you can get SSH access to the account via your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package doesn't provide this feature as standard, you may add it with several mouse clicks from the Upgrades menu. Within the SSH section of the CP, you'll see the host, the port number and the username that you should use when you connect to the account. You may also select what password you would want to use, as it doesn't need to be the same as the one for your account. We've prepared a lot of Help articles in which you may find all of the commands you will be able to use with a shared hosting package, along with examples of how they're used. Moreover, if SSH access is permitted for your account, you shall be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection through a standard client like FileZilla, for instance.
- SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
You shall be able to connect to your semi-dedicated server account using SSH irrespective of which package you choose when you sign up. With some plans, the feature is included by default, while with others, it may be added as an optional upgrade for as long as you need it. You will find the required login details within the Hepsia Control Panel, provided with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You can pick the password that you'll use and if you want, you could change it all the time with a couple of clicks for even better security. You'll be able to see all the commands that you may use upfront, because we've listed all of them together with examples of how they are used to perform a certain task. Once SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is enabled, you will be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.- SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
If you purchase a new VPS server from our company, it will offer full root access and you shall be able to connect to the server and to manage everything using an SSH console. The feature is provided by default with all package deals, so you shall not need to enable or upgrade anything. Your hosting server shall be set up right after you purchase it and the minute you receive the Welcome e mail with the login information, you could connect using the server’s primary IP address and begin working. Because the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is separated from the other accounts on the physical machine, there will be no restrictions in terms of the commands which you can use. You will have full root access, so that you can install and run any app which can work on a Linux hosting server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot your entire machine or any software running on it. - SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
