AAAA is a domain address record, which is in essence the IPv6 address of the server in which the domain is hosted. The IPv6 system was intended to replace the present IPv4 system where every single IP is made up of 4 groups of decimal numbers ranging from 1 to 255 e.g. 5.168.208.143. However, an IPv6 address includes eight groups of four hexadecimal digits - from 0 to 9 and from A to F. The main reason for this modification is the significantly smaller amount of unique IPs which the present system supports and also the speedy increase of products which are connected to the world wide web. An example of an IPv6 address is 2101:1f34:32e2:2415:1365:4f2b:2553:1345. If you wish to direct a domain to a web server which uses this sort of an address, you'll have to set up an AAAA record for it, not the widely used A record, which is an IPv4 address. The 2 records deliver the same exact function, but different notations are used, so as to distinguish the two forms of addresses.
AAAA Records in Hosting
If you need to set up a new AAAA record a domain address or subdomain hosted inside your hosting account, it won't take you more than several basic steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia CP is quite intuitive to use and is going to enable you to create or edit every single record without difficulty. When you sign in and navigate to the DNS Records section, in which you'll discover all existing records for your domain names and subdomains, you'll only have to click on the "New" button, pick AAAA from a small drop-down menu inside the pop-up that will show up, input or paste the required IPv6 address and save the change - it's as easy as that. The new record shall be fully active within only an hour and the hostname which you have created it for shall start opening whatever content you have with the other provider. When required, you will also be able to modify the TTL (Time To Live) value, which shows the time in seconds the new record will be live after you eventually edit it to something different or you simply remove it.
AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Servers
Setting up a new AAAA record is incredibly easy with our user-friendly Hepsia hosting Control Panel, so if you host a domain address inside a semi-dedicated server account from our company and you need such a record either for it or for a subdomain that you've set up under it, you'll be able to create it in a few quite simple steps and without any hassle. Hepsia includes a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domains where you can find all current records or create new ones with several mouse clicks. All it takes to do that is to choose the domain/subdomain you want to modify, select AAAA for the type from a drop-down menu and enter the actual record i.e. the IPv6 address that the other provider has given you. Within an hour after you save the change, the newly created record is going to propagate world-wide and your domain address will start pointing to the third-party server. If they demand it, you may also change the TTL value, which shows the time this record is going to be operating with its current value before a new one kicks in if you make any modifications in the future.
